Email open rates for appointment reminders are unreliable at best — messages land in spam, get buried under promotional mail, or simply go unread until it's too late to reschedule. WhatsApp doesn't have that problem. It's already the primary way most patients communicate, and messages get read within minutes, not days.

Lifeline HMS now lets every organization connect its own WhatsApp Business Account and send the same notifications it already sends by email — appointment confirmations, reminders, reschedules, cancellations, and payment updates — directly to a patient's phone.

Your Own WhatsApp Business Account, Your Own Billing

This isn't a shared number or a third-party messaging relay. Each organization connects its own WhatsApp Business Account through a one-click Meta login, and Meta bills that organization directly for message usage. Lifeline HMS never touches payment details for WhatsApp messaging — it only requests permission to send messages on your behalf once you've granted it.

No-Code Template Builder

WhatsApp requires every business-initiated message to use a pre-approved template — free-form text only works if a patient has messaged you first, which doesn't fit a proactive reminder or confirmation. Instead of pushing you into Meta's own developer tools to write one, Lifeline HMS gives you a template editor right inside Organization Settings.

  • Every notification type comes with a suggested starting message, not a blank box
  • Click a placeholder chip (patient name, doctor name, date, time, amount, and more depending on the message) to insert it — no need to remember Meta's {{1}}, {{2}} syntax
  • A live preview shows exactly what the patient will see
  • Submit for review with one click, then turn the notification on once Meta approves it

Which Notifications Can Go Over WhatsApp

Every notification already lists next to its toggle in Organization Settings, so you decide which ones matter for your patients: appointment confirmation, appointment reminder, appointment rescheduled, appointment cancelled, payment confirmation, payment refunded, order confirmation, order cancelled, and follow-up reminders. Turning one on doesn't turn off its email version — WhatsApp is additive, not a replacement.

Getting Started

Connecting takes one click from Organization Settings → Integrations, once your organization has a Meta Business Account, a WhatsApp Business Account, and a dedicated phone number ready. The full walkthrough — including exactly what to have ready on Meta's side — is in our WhatsApp integration guide.
